Triceratops Frill fossil - 3.4 in x 2.4 in - Hell Creek Formation
This is an authentic fragment from the edge of the iconic bony frill of a Triceratops, one of the most famous and recognizable dinosaurs of all time.
Triceratops was a massive herbivorous ceratopsian with three prominent facial horns, a powerful parrot-like beak, and an enormous bony frill that protected its neck. This impressive shield was likely used for defense against predators such as Tyrannosaurus rex, as well as for display and species recognition. These giants roamed the floodplains of what is now North America during the final days of the Late Cretaceous (~68–66 million years ago), right up until the K-Pg mass extinction event.
This specimen comes from the renowned Hell Creek Formation in the Powderville area of Montana — classic dinosaur country known for its exceptionally preserved Late Cretaceous fossils, including Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, and T. rex.
