Hadrosaur Dorsal Vertebra - Hell Creek Formation
This is an authentic dorsal vertebra from an Edmontosaurus, the common duck-billed hadrosaur dinosaur of the Hell Creek Formation.
Hadrosaurs were large, herbivorous, duck-billed dinosaurs that lived in herds during the Late Cretaceous period, from approximately 86 to 66 million years ago. These impressive herbivores used their specialized beaks and dental batteries to efficiently process large amounts of tough plant material. This specimen comes from the very final chapter of the non-avian dinosaur era, just prior to the K-Pg extinction event.
Recovered from the famous Hell Creek Formation in the Powderville area of Montana, this vertebra comes from ancient floodplain and river environments that preserve some of the best Late Cretaceous fossils in North America.
Specimen Highlights:
- Type: Authentic dorsal vertebra from a hadrosaur dinosaur (likely Edmontosaurus)
- Dimensions: 12.7 inches tall (17.25 inches with stand), 8.75 inches wide, 3.75 inches long
- Display: Comes with a custom metal stand
- Color & Preservation: Well-preserved bone with attractive natural mineralization and surface texture typical of Hell Creek fossils
- Condition: fully complete vertebra with all three processes intact, minor repair and restoration has been performed only to stabilize the fossil
- Provenance: Hell Creek Formation, Late Cretaceous, Powderville Montana area (legally collected from private land)
- Authenticity Guarantee: 100% genuine hadrosaur fossil, acquired directly from a trusted paleontologist who collects in the Hell Creek Formation
- Display: comes with a custom display stand.
Bonus: Includes a custom information card with details about hadrosaur dinosaurs, geological context, and a human size reference to help visualize the impressive scale of these Late Cretaceous herbivores.
Hadrosaur tail vertebrae like this offer fascinating insight into the structure, flexibility, and locomotion of these large duck-billed dinosaurs, whose powerful tails helped with balance and movement as they roamed in herds across ancient North America.
Perfect for paleontology collections, natural history displays, educational use, cabinets of curiosity, or as a unique and meaningful gift for any dinosaur enthusiast.
